Why should I buy a set of Gardner ATT Bite Alarms?
Gardner ATT Bite Alarms are small, ruggid and 100% waterproof.
Buying a new set of alarms is not as easy as it sounds. About a year ago, I decided I not only needed a set of three new alarms, but I also needed a receiver with the alarms. I spoke to a few people "in the know" to get their recommendations and I did my research online. In addition, I went to a brick and mortar tackle store to look at different alarms. Finally, I purchased a set of Gardner ATT Alarms.
Immediately I noticed the size of the alarms; they are very compact, which means it is easier for me to pack them up and take them with me. I don't like carrying around a big, bulky bag of items when I go fishing. Another feature I like is that the finish is rubberized. That is true for the receiver also, which is a big benefit because I am able to grip both of them more comfortably. Because my hands get wet and tired when I am fishing, the rubberized finish helps ensure that I don't lose them in the water. In addition, the finish also means that the alarm isn't going to damage the rod in any way. The ATTx Receiver has a recessed power switch, meaning it won't turn itself off by accident leaving you unable to hear the Gardner ATT when they go off.

The batteries seem to last a long time. The receiver uses AA batteries and my first set lasted for an entire year. The alarm uses a 467A 6V; you may not be able to find those everywhere, but the Internet should help the search. Up to this point, that battery has not needed to be replaced even after many sessions of fishing.
The receiver has a vibrate mode, which is nice when fishing at night and you don't want to wake up the whole family. It also makes the standard beep tones, much like other receivers available, if you prefer not to have it in the silent mode.
For the tackle tarts there are different colored isotopes and rollers available to suit the LEDs on the different colored ATT Alarms. The rollers come in 2, 4 and 6 magnet versions meaning 1cm 0.5cm and 0.3 cm of line movement is needed to trigger the alarm. I've continued to use the 2 magnet rollers that were included which comes standard with the Gardner ATTs, and they have been sufficient for all my fishing needs. Still, if you want to be a little fancier about it, it is possible to do so.
Ease of Use
The ATT Alarms are quite simple to use. All you need to do is affix the alarm to a buzzbar or a bankstick, whichever you prefer, and then take the cover off. When you remove the cover over the Gardner ATT Alarms the alarm will turn on automatically. Then, make sure the receiver is on, and you can get started with the task at hand. The only thing you really need to adjust is the volume; other than that, the entire process is very easy. It also does not matter which alarm head you set to which colour on the receiver but it does make life a lot easier if you set the different LED lights on the Alarms to correspond with the LED on the Receiver.
After a year, I can honestly say that I have really enjoyed my alarms. Occasionally, after I purchase something, I either feel the need to return it or to look for something that performs a little better. That is not true in this case. The alarm does what I need it to do. I like how simple it is. It works well, and although I dropped it into the lake one time, it still functions perfectly normally, which is great. After all, accidents are going to happen and with the Gardner ATTs you do not have to worry about water as they are 100% waterproof, another bonus for these amazing little alarms.
